Friday 29th

Today in class we didn’t learn anything new. We spent the class period finishing our benchmark test. It was the last day we were given to finish it completely. I had to just finish answering the last question to be done with the test. We were told that once done with the test we were given the chance to check Infinite Campus to see what assignment we were missing to make it up.

Thursday 28th

 Today we had a substitute teacher. She wrote down the assignments that were left for us to finish on the board. We had to write down the 15 vocabulary words from the book and put what parts of speech it was. We also had to use all 15 vocabulary words in a sentence that we had to make up. Once we were done writing the sentence we had to do exercise 1 from the book on page 7. which had parts a,b, and c. It used the same vocabulary words but we had to pick out which word fit best into the blank spaces in the sentence provided. 

Tuesday 26th

 Today in class we took quick notes on how we are supposed to write and answer the last question on the benchmark test. In the introducation we have to have a mininmun of 4 sentances. The introducation has to have an attention getter that can be of 1 sentence, the introduction of the topic( has to have 2 sentences), and the thesis statment that is 1 sentence. We will have 2 body paragraphs. They both must contain a claim( 1 sentecne), evidence that comes from the text, explaining the evidence, giving the 2nd evidecne, explain it, and the conclude. But in the 2nd body paragraph we must include a counterclaim after explain the 1st evidence. And finally the conclude will have the reated thesis sentence and the concluding statment. We were given an extra day to finish answering the last queastion which will be on friday.

Monday 25th

 Today in class we had to take an illuminate benchmark test. It has 20 questions and they were based on 2 different passages that we were given. The first 6 questions were based on the first passage and were multiple choice, but 1 of the questions was a written response. We were supposed to finish questions 1-19 in class today so in class tomorrow we have more time to work on the last question. But if we weren't able to get to question 19 today we would have time tomorrow.

Friday 22th

 Today we had a shorter class period due to the pep rally for homecoming. But in the amount of time we had in class we did another part of our notes. We wrote down information about what evidence is and the format of a body paragraph. Evidence comes from your reading, experiences, and your observations. And body paragraph is made up of 6 things; The claim, evidence, explain the evidence ( had to be 2 or more sentences), evidence 2, explain evidence 2, and the conclusion. As a class, we listened to a made-up court case to see if the evidence given was backed up with a good explanation.

Thursday 21st

 Today in class we went onto Illuminate and did an assignment as a class by watching small clips and pictures deciding what type of rhetorical appeal each one was showing. We had to pick between pathos, logos, and ethos. We also had to give an explanation of how they were showing the rhetorical appeal and who the audience was. We only did 7 out of the 20 questions so that we could finish writing down our notes. Today we wrote notes about what a claim is. We learned that there are 3 types of claims; claim of facts, claim of value, and claim of policy. And how a claim has to be arguable and can't just be a simple statement of fact. 

Tuesday 19th

Today in class we took notes about what is an arguments. An argument is an opinion (claim) that is supported by evidence. We also  learned that everythig is an argument and that it doesen't neccesary has to be persuasive to the audience. An argument is composed of 3 main elements, which include the speaker, purpose, and the audience.
