Today in class we talked about poems and annotated one of Emily Dickinson poem called "I'm Nobody! Who are you?"
Today in class we didn't learn anything, except present our jamboards. We had to go in order from the numbers we were assigned to. Those who didn'nt finish their jamboards had to recored themselves talking about their story. We had to give the summary of our story, explain who the characters are, and tell them class what the theme of the story is. Once everyone was done presenting thier jamboards it was already time to go to our next class.
In class today we had to turn in our Origin Myth project and explanation before class ended or else it would be considered late. We also have to creatre a Jamboard talking about our stories. It has to include pictures of our story, sticky notes with information, and give a brief summary as well. We have to fill up our slide and not leave any blank space,so we can include as much color and pics with information as we want. The Jamboard is due tommorow and we'll have to present it to the class.
Today in class we didn't get to do much. But we were given a test in illuminate, it only had 4 questions. The test was about an Origin myth story of how the robin was made. After being done with the test we had to wait until everyone was done to go over the test and which answers were the right ones. Once done going over the quiz we got to work on our project, but didn't have enought time due to the bell about to ring.
Today in class we were going threw the example of the Origin Myth project that we were provided with and had to underlined some information. The story was called "Navajo Creation", and it had Bible and greek mythology information in it. Once done going over the rublic and how the project should be done we were able to work on our Origin Myth project. Since we had a longer class period then normal due to block schedule, it gave us more time to work on the project in class. We also got an extended due date unti monday instead of friday. I was able to finsh writing my story but I have to go back and edit it along with doing the seprate paragraph explaing why my story is a valid creation myth. And I'll have to explain the roles that the creatures, elements, and gods play in my myth.
Today in class the substituted teacher made us go up and put a check mark next to our name once the bell rang so we wouldn't be marked absent and grab the sheet of paper that was next to the attendence sheet that was today's assignment. She went over the assignment for today and how it's due Friday. The assignment is about creating our own origin myth using the same elements as the Native American myths. We must explain the creation of the humans or earth using personified animas, and elements of the nature world. We must also provided a seperate paragraph stating how and why our stories are vailed creation myths. During the class period it was quite, everyone was working on the assignment.
In class today we took notes about the Native of american literature. First we started off by listing 5 stereotypes Native american people have and we listed; having long hair, are hunters, have many languages, very spiritual, and have paint on their face. Once we were done listing the stereotypes we had to write down the defintions for Myth, Legend, and Religion. Then we wrote down the characteristic of origion myths. Which included; the creation of earth/ humans, creation of plants & animals, similarites to the Bible, and similarites to mythology. And once done taking notes we were told to write down our name with 4 characteristics that descrided us, along with 3 stereotypes that we deal with.
In class today we were told to take out our chrombooks and go to illuminate to finsh answering the 3 questions we had left from yesturday. But before we were able to finsh it we went over the ones we were able to do yesturday. We were going over how in the "2+2=5" short film a kid decided to go against what the teacher said and stand up for what he belived was right. Due to him standing up for what he belived was right he was "shoot", but it turned out he wasn't shoot cause the upper students who shot him didn't have guns. So as a class we were thinking of what the short film was trying to teach us and belived that the teacher was trying to test the student and see how far he would go for standing up to what is right even if he will face some consequence by doing so. We weren't able to finsh the last 3 short flims because class had ended.
In class today we talked about summaries and how when doing so we don't have to include our own opinion, instead we only have to tell about what happend. After that we had to go to illuminate because we were going to watch short films and then write about their summaries, and 2 themes we learned from them. The first one we watched was "The Elevator", which was about a guy getting into an elevator that was later getting filled with people and he was getting scared of the weight limit so he got out and went to a diffrent one only to find out it was filled with sick people. The second one we watched was "2+2=5", which was about a class of students being told by their teacher that 2+2=5 and a few of the students went against the teaching saying that the correct answer was 4, but faced consquences by doing so. We were supposed to do 5, but due to the class being short we only got to finish 2.
In class today we started off with talking about the notes we took yesterday and finished them today. Afterwards we were given a sheet of paper called “If dress code doesn’t suit teens, school district will”. We had to circle any words that we didn’t know and underline things that we didn’t understand or had questions about. The article was taking about how if students in Gonzales High School violated the dress code they had to either have an extra set or clothing, serve in- school suspension, or have to wear navy blue coveralls. The navy blue coveralls were made to style and look like prison jumpsuits and are actually made by Taxes inmates. After we finished reading we were handed a piece of paper with a question about the article. Everyone got different questions which we had to turn in once class ended.
In class we took notes about reading with a purpose and what good readers do such as make a connection between the text, or knowledge of another text. Then once we were done taking notes we were handed a sheet of paper with the heading of “The House” and read it as a class. Once done reading we were asking what we thought the purpose of the story was and the most classmates said that one of the boy seemed as if he wanted to rob. So we were told to go back and highlight the purpose of the story as if the person of the story wanted to rob the house. After we were done highlighting we had to go back and this time that we had to underline important information as if we wanted to buy or sell the house.
Today in class we took our test for the story we've been reading this week. Everyone was given a different access code for the test. It...
