Friday May 10

 Today in class we took our test for the story we've been reading this week. Everyone was given a different access code for the test. It had a total of 20 questions. We had the whole class period to answer all the questions. In case we forgot something we were able to go back and read the story. Once I finished the test we didn't have anything else to do.I decided to do my blog so I wouldn't have to worry about it later.

Thursday May 9

 We worked on a common lit assignment. We had to answer all the questions as we read the story. The first 2 chapters we did as a class. But for the rest we had to answer the questions individually. We still had to read the story and were picked. Once done reading and answering the questions in common lit we didn't do anything else.

Tuesday May 7

 Today we reading the 2nd part of the story " A Rose for Emily". Today we had to take turns reading from the left side of the class to the right. After finishing we had to answer 7 questions. But the questions weren't the corrects ones, so we didn't have to answer them. We were told that we had to blog for this week and I had forgot about it.

Monday May 6

 We started reading a new story called " A Rose for Emily". We first analyzed what a rose would symbolize or for what it would be used for. We said the rose could mean love, friendship, grief for someone's death, or a gift for someone to get better. We read the first part of the story. Everyone took a turn reading a paragraph. Once done reading part 1, we had to answer 7 questions. We had to complete it before the end of the day.

Tuesday April 16th

 Today in class we got to see where our testing locations will be for the eoc of the literature part. For our assignment it was another Newsela. We had to complete all 3 parts of it. The article was about how some people want to change the bottom part of the shoes due to them causing a negative impact on the environment. They want to use plant-based for the bottom part. And how if people were to keep asking companies for these shoes they'll eventually produce these shoes. We were also told during class that today would be our last day of posting in our blogs for now due to eoc testing.

Monday April 15th

 Today in class we worked on a Newsela assignment. The assignment was called “Entrepreneur Rana el Kaliouby wants artificial intelligence to put “humans first.” It was based on AI technology and how it has improved dramatically in many ways. It's even being used to help drivers learn how to drive safely. Other complies as well want to have access to the technology Rana created. Once’s we were done reading the article we had to answer 4 questions and do the written response.

Friday April 12th

 Today in class we worked on two different poems and annotated them as we went along. They were by Williams Carlos Williams. The first poem we read was "This Is Just To Say", we first read the poem, and the second time we created questions for each stanza. Once done creating the questions we had to answer the questions. The second poem we created was " The Red Wheelbarrow." We had to write 5 things we so much depend on as a class. We wrote writing utensils, electricity, water, and wheels, I forgot what the last one was. We had to also create questions and answers for this poem. Once we were done we just turned in the poems for a grade. 

Thursday April 11th

Today in class we didn't learn anything new. We were working on skills we can use for the EOC. We got an assignment on common-lit, that we had to answer some questions. Throughout the story we had to answer questions. It was 13 questions in total, they were all multiple choice. We were able to answer a question multiple times, but it would only give us half the point. I got 11 out of 13 correct. After we were done answering the questions we had another 4 questions and 1 written response. The assignment was due at the send of class. We didn't have anything else to do in class, unless we had missing assignments we had to complete those before tomorrow or else it'll turn into a missing in infinite campus. 

Spring break paragraph

 During our spring break I wasn't able to do much, I mostly spent my break working. I had 2 days off which were Wednesday and Sunday. For my days off I went out with my friends. On Wednesday we went to eat at a buffet. Afterwards we walked around and shopped at some stores. Towards the end of the day we decided to go watch 2 movies at the theater. We watched the New Godzilla x Kong : The New Empire movie, as well as the new ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. And on Sunday we decided to go to the fair at the Santa Fe Mall, since Sunday was the last day they would be there. We went early so that we could spend the whole day there. On Monday it was the solar eclipse, I didn't go out to watch it due to having work that day.

Friday Mar 29th

 Today in class we worked on a new assignment. I had asked what assignments I had missed due to not being here for 2 days. I just had to check Canvas and complete anything that was missing. All assignments are due before April 12th. The assignment for today was called "Narrative outline." We had to create a narrative based on the story. We had different options to choose from. We were also given a layout and instructions on how we are supposed to do it.

Monday Mar 25th

Today we were given an assignment on Canvas. The assignment was called " The Life You Save May Be Your Own." For this assignment we had to read the story and for each paragraph we had to answer a question. I was able to finish half of the questions during the class period. We had to type out our answers in canvas.

Friday Mar 22nd

 We took an illuminate test for most of the class period. The test was 20 questions, all multiple choices. Once done taking the test we were shown the class percentage of how well we did on the class. I missed the class 4 questions, so I got an 80%. I was struggling to identify what type of claim it was. Had to choose between claim of fact, evidence, value, and policy. Claim of evidence was put as an option to throw us off. After being shown the class percentage, We went over some of the questions most students missed.

Thursday Mar 21st

 Today in class we had to sit in groups of 3 or 4. For the assignment we had to create an argumentative paragraph based on the topics we've been working on since Friday. We started off doing the sports one. It was asking us if we agreed or opposed students- athletes getting money from participating in sport programs. We were given a format on how we need the paragraph to look like. For the majority of the class period we were working on writing down the information onto a sheet of paper. Had to include the claim, evidence 1, explanation 1, evidence 2, explanation 2, and the conclusion. Once it was getting close to the end of the class we had to review another classmate argumentative paragraph.

Tuesday Mar 19th

 For today's class period the assignment was based on Monday's assignment. But instead we had to write down evidence from articles we were given.  For the assignment we had 2 main topics which were Sport-Compensation for Student-Athletes, and Social Media- Impact on Teenager. We had to do sorta like a paragraph agreeing and opposing to the topic. So the claim we created yesterday would be the claims for this assignment. Then we had to read 2 different articles based on the same topic and take out 2 pieces of evidence from each showing agreement and against. It took me a bit more time to complete this assignment.  

Monday Mar 18th

 In class we learned how to create claims. For this assignment we were given different prompts on different topics and for each we had to create a claim supporting and going against it. The first prompt was based on sports asking if " student athletes should receive compensation for participating in school sports program, considering the revenue that may generate for school?" We had a total 9 different prompts that we had to complete. And they had to be highlighted in red so that they could be noticable. I was able to complete the worksheet by the end of the day.

Friday Mar 15th

 During class we learned about how to identify claims. We had to go into Canvas and download an article called " Three- year bachelor's degrees could save families thousands- but are students ready?" For the work we would be doing during class was based off the article. We had to read the article and whenever we came across a claim we had to type it down in the correct topic. The topics we had were Economic Implication, student life and debt, educational structure and policy, academic and personal development, Future career and skills, and broader educational values. We did the first one as a class together but the last 9 we had to complete on our own.

Thursday Mar 14th

 Today we had a substitute teacher. We were left an assignment to complete. The assignment was located in Newsela and was called “Hitting “snooze” can boost morning cognition, study hints.” We had to read the article and answer the 4 questions. Afterwards once done answering the question we had to complete a writing prompt. I was able to complete the assignment before class ended.

Tuesday Mar 12th

 Today in class we added new more notes for how to annotate and cite quotes from the text. Once we finished adding those notes we were given a new assignment in Newsela. The assignment is called " Fast-Food giants overwork teenagers, driving America's child labor crisis." We had to read the article on our own and Once finished we had to complete two assignments based on the article. The first assignment was to answer 4 question in Newsela, and afterwords complete the writing prompt. For the 4 questions I got 3 correct out of 4. I was able to complete the assignment before class ended.
